Please be aware of the following recent updates to GMS processes, job aids or reports as of January 22, 2018.

HCM Updates

HCM180122.01 – 2018 US Federal Withholding Tables

Impacted Roles – Employee as Self

On January 11th, the IRS published updated withholding tables for 2018, which reflect the tax changes signed into law by the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act.  The 2018 withholding tables were delivered to GMS on the January 19th service update.

Payroll payments completed on or after January 20th will have US federal taxes withheld based on the new 2018 withholding tables.  Payroll payments completed and settled prior to January 19th, including the US Bi-weekly for the January 19th pay date, will have US federal taxes calculated using the 2017 withholding tables.  For additional information on the 2018 withholding tables, please refer to details published by the IRS at https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/resources-for-tax-law-changes and/or consult your tax advisor.

The 2018 withholding tables are designed to work with existing W-4 tax elections.  However, if you would like to change your federal tax withholding by navigating to the Pay worklet.

HCM180122.02 – Update to Employee Report

Impacted Roles – HCM Roles with report access

The All Positions / Jobs section of the Employee Report has been updated to include Cost Center, Fund, Purpose and Program.  Previously only the Cost Center appeared for each position.  The worktags are the position’s default Organization Assignment worktags.

HCM180122.03 – Update to Positions Report

Impacted Roles – HCM Roles with report access

The 7 questions from the Additional Position Details Complete Questionnaire have been added to the end of the Positions Report.  Please note that there will only be answer for Positions that have been edited or created since we went live with Recruiting in November 2016.

HCM180122.04 – Employment and Recruitment Specialist Reviews All Admin Change Jobs

Impacted Roles – Employment and Recruitment Specialist (Indirect – HR Contact, Department Administrator, Finance Partner, CFO)

The Employment and Recruitment Specialist role (University HR) has been added as an initial reviewer for all Change Job transactions initiated for Administrative workers. This first level of review is intended to perform a data quality review of the transaction to ensure all documentation is attached and the transaction is filled out properly. Then, as it is today, the transaction will only route to the Compensation Analyst (University HR) if the transaction is out of compliance with Classification and Compensation policies. The remainder of the Change Job business process routing is unchanged.
