What’s New in GMS – August 7, 2017

Please be aware of the following recent updates to GMS processes, job aids or reports as of August 7th, 2017.  

HCM Updates

HCM170807.01 – New Classification and Compensation structure is live!

We successfully implemented the new classification and compensation structure in GMS over the weekend! All Staff and AAP positions (filled and vacant) and employee records have been updated to reflect their new Job Profiles and Compensation Grades.

As we begin to operate in this new structure, please review the complete announcement from HR on the GMS homepage which highlights some areas of note including policy, business process and job aid updates.

HCM170807.02 – New FMLA Leave Request Process Effective August 1, 2017

On August 1, 2017, the process of putting faculty and staff on FMLA was consolidated in the Office of Faculty and Staff Benefits, with a single point of contact for all FMLA questions. The FMLA processes is now in Workday/GMS, including approvals and generation of required FMLA forms and notifications. This new streamlined approach will provide greater transparency and understanding of the FMLA leave process.

Finance updates

FIN170807.01 – New GU Find In Progress Journals Report

A new report, GU Find In Progress Journals, has been built to allow users with Organization based security (i.e. CCM, Financial Reporters) to see in progress journals. This report will be especially helpful during month end and fiscal close periods to see which journals need to be approved before closing.

FIN170807.02 – FY18 Operating Budget Amendment upload template now available

The FY18 Operating Budget Amendment upload template is now available on the Financial Affairs’ forms (new window) web page. Submit completed templates to your Campus finance office for review. Upon review the template will be sent to Financial Systems for upload in GMS and subsequently approved in GMS by the Campus CFO.
